A New Year, New Tips for YOU!

It’s that time of year where we can “begin again”.  There is something refreshing about making a new start. What we’ve learned over the years is how much one’s attitude can impact our behavior.  The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for the day.  And at the start of this New Year, we can ask ourselves, “Can I be open to change the things that weren’t working for me last year?”

A customer recently came up to us and said, “I am so tired of wearing black and grey all the time, but I don’t know how to bring color into my wardrobe.  How can I change in the New Year?”  The good news is she already has the attitude of being open to new ideas and mentioned wanting to integrate some burgundy and blue tones into her wardrobe.  To assist our customer, we suggested she experiment with these new clothing colors along with jewelry and accessories to complement her desired look.

We thought a blue jean jacket or burgundy sweater would be a good first staple to add.  Adding a blue tone scarf to a black or grey top is another easy way to add color.  We showed her our blue pashmina and silk scarves in blue tones as an option.  Additionally, putting on a colorful gemstone necklace, ring, earrings, or bracelet could also brighten her look.  For this customer, we proposed lapis, blue aquamarine, or turquoise earrings.  Agate or garnets would work well for the burgundy/red shades if trying to add a bit of color to a grey outfit.

What was great is she left filled with ideas on how to create a new look for herself and you can do the same!  With an open mind, try new color, jewelry & accessory combinations that might work for you. Remember the Pantone Color of 2020 is classic blue “a shade reminiscent of the sky at dusk. It's a color that anticipates what's going to happen next," said Laurie Pressman, the vice president of the Pantone Color Institute.
