The Special Effects of Druzy Jewelry!

We love working with druzies and we often get asked “what is a druzy?” So here is all you ever wanted to know! Druzy gets its name from the word “druse”, which refers to a rock surface, usually a cavity, covered with tiny crystals.  These are often found inside geodes or in larger pockets of mineral deposits. The druzy quartz gems grow slowly over millions of years and are found as the very last layer of growth on agate or another colorful base. Common druzy colors are white, yellow, brown, red, pink, and orange.

The texture of druzy gemstones is like fine sugar. The surface is striking as it displays a huge amount of tiny crystals. The gemstone is tinted in a series of colors, which results in a unique and exquisite effect. These gemstones are mostly covered with titanium, providing an impressive and dazzling finish. Our teardrop shaped durzy necklaces have been very popular for the magical colors they exude in the light.

As with other types of crystals, druzy stones also offer benefits directly related to the gem material it is associated with. Overall, the stone purifies and amplifies the body's natural healing properties and strengthens the spirit. It is also believed to provide the balance necessary to avoid depression or unnatural feelings of fear or dread.

The popularity of druzy stones keeps growing. The main reason is that it is a less expensive material to work with, compared to large faceted gemstones.  Also, they have sparkle, great color, and can be cut into various shapes with ease. Druzy lovers are drawn to the way the crystals shine in various forms of light. It all depends on the color and size of the druzy stones, but you can get a lot of value for your spending budget.  Druzy jewelry makes a great gift too.

At Beksan Designs, our druzies are handcrafted mostly into necklaces and earrings. We typically set our druzy stones in 24kt gold vermeil (over a .925 silver base) or sterling silver.  Shop our druzy quartz jewelry at an event near you or online at www.beksandesigns.com and enjoy their special effects!
