Work & Play in Istanbul!
We love our annual Istanbul trips, two sisters together working and having fun! We planned our trip several months ago, and felt grateful we were able to travel together for Beksan Designs and see friends & family. This year one of our friends tagged along and was so happy to get an “insider” view of Istanbul! Prior to leaving, we had emailed our artisan colleagues some creative, new designs and looked forward to seeing what they would come up with! We were fortunate to meet a couple of new artisans as well to bring other new designs to life. What we enjoy most is pairing natural semi-precious stones with different metals and materials to offer one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces! We’re so looking forward to sharing these new designs with you over the next few months at upcoming events and online. We spent most of our days working with Beksan Designs’ artisans and manufacturers, but in our off time we were able to get together with childhood friends, see a few sites/areas, and eat some amazing food! We want to share some highlights of our trip with you:
- We returned to The Niles Hotel in Beyazit, near the Grand Bazaar. It’s our home away from home. The staff is incredibly welcoming and we love starting the day with their delicious buffet breakfast.
- Had delicious dinners nightly, but two stand-outs were “Seven Hills Restaurant” in the SultanAhmet area—great food and amazing views; Also “Fener” in Kumkapi where we had yummy seasonal fish and were entertained by street musicians.
- Enjoyed a wonderful afternoon/evening on the Asian side of Istanbul, first visiting Camlica, the highest peak in Istanbul, then tea time in Kucuk Su, right on the Bosphorus. We even saw dolphins swim by.
- Strolled through Taksim Square which is for pedestrians only and leads right into Istiklal Street with great shopping and restaurants.
