Beksan Designs was established in 2011 by sisters Meyla Ruwin and Nevra Shapiro. Although we were born in California, much of our childhood was spent in Istanbul, Turkey. As adults with a shared entrepreneurial spirit and a desire to establish a family business, we decided to merge our passion for jewelry with our unique cross-cultural background. To pay homage to our Turkish roots and family’s legacy, we named our new venture after our grandfather, whose surname was Beksan. Inspired by the beauty and luxe of the Ottoman style, we wanted to combine that classic style with modern flair to appeal to the 21st Century woman. Our jewelry is stylish, sustainably sourced, high quality but still affordable. We want our customers to feel elegant in Beksan Designs jewelry whether they’re making a run to the grocery store or jet-setting across the globe.
