Highlights from London & Istanbul!
Amazing travel experiences we wanted to share with you….Nevra’s first stop was in London on her way to Istanbul to meet Meyla for Beksan Designs. She had so much fun visiting her daughter, Kayla, who lives there, working as a software engineer for BBC. In addition to delicous meals, they went to two concerts and the Haywood Art Gallery near Southbank. On Sunday, the sun came out and they took a walk along the canals of London, a hidden secret and wonderful way to escape the bustle of London.
Of course, Nevra made time to shop and check out the Spring London trends. Here are some of her insights:
- Predominant colors are neutrals, along with shades of green, yellow, and black & white combos
- Skirt lengths are typically “midi” or “mini” for the younger crowd
- For spring and summer, cargo styles, ‘safari’ wear and leopard patterns are popular as are floral prints
- Cropped straight or wide leg pants are trending, typically paired with short booties or stylish sneakers
Next stop Istanbul where we met up at our favorite Niles Hotel, located in the heart of Beyazit, a stone’s throw from the Grand Bazaar. Their traditional Turkish roof top breakfasts with a view of the sea began each working day. Prior to leaving California, we had emailed our artisan colleagues with creative, new designs and looked forward to seeing what they came up with!
Our days were spent working alongside Beksan Designs’ artisans and we rewarded ourselves with delightful dinners. We returned to one of our favorite rooftop restaurants, “Olive Anatolian” in the Sultan Ahmet, with great food, amazing views and live music on Saturday night. And we discovered a new rooftop restaurant at the top of the Best Western President Hotel near our boutique hotel. Food was great and more live music!
Working with our artisan partners in their studios was so rewarding, especially seeing our designs come to life. We celebrated our last night having beverages and snacks on the rooftop of our hotel.
