Plan to Travel in Style
With this being an especially popular travel season, planning before you go is key. Especially popular are the seaside countries including Italy, Spain, Greece, and Turkey because they are warm in the summer months. In fact, it was already good weather in Florence when Nevra visited this spectacular city last month. Fortunately, she worked hard to plan her sightseeing, clothing, jewelry & accessories to have an awesome time.
Let’s start with wardrobe and jewelry decisions. Having learned what’s stylish in Europe, Nevra packed outfits in neutral colors accented with a few tops in spring trending colors: pink, burgundy, and green colors. She also brought a couple of scarves to add color to her neutral-toned outfits. This cotton scarf was perfect for sight-seeing, lightweight, colorful, and soft to the touch.

For clothing she packed her favorite jeans and lightweight pants along with a black maxi skirt. Two pairs of stylish athletic shoes came along, one darker color and one white to wear with any outfit, even out to dinner. Florence is a walking city, in fact one day, she logged 21K steps!
Now for jewelry packing, Nevra enjoys mixing and matching both silver and gold metals to create her own style. She loves wearing gemstones and layering both bracelets and necklaces. A simple daytime style was combining our 18” druzy necklace with a longer sterling silver or gold vermeil paper clip link chain.
Warmer weather means short sleeves and arms ready for bracelets! To shine, she brought along our gold bead bracelet along with a crystal inlay bracelet and ½ hoop crystal earrings, perfect for day or night. She also packed a couple of larger gemstone cocktail rings which are so fashionable.
For sight-seeing, she booked online tickets to two of the more popular Florence sights, The Ufffizi Gallery and the Galleria dell’Accademia a month ahead of time. Luckily she did, because even with advance bookings, there were lines to contend with.
IMPORTANT TIP: Book as many sites and desired restaurants way before you go, everyone seems to be traveling!
Based on her trip, Nevra suggests the following “must-see” sites:
Begin with a visit to the iconic Duomo Cathedral which is in the heart of the city. You’ll marvel at the stunning architecture! Continue to the Uffizi Gallery where you’ll admire masterpieces by artists like Botticelli, Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci.
Finish with a stroll across the Ponte Vecchio, a historic bridge lined with jewelry shops, offering beautiful views of the Arno River
The next day, plan to visit the Galleria dell’Accademia to see Michelangelo’s famous sculpture, David. Nearby is the San Lorenzo Market where you can find a variety of local products and souvenirs. If you want to see more art, the Pitti Palace is great for works by Raphael, Titian, and Caravaggio. A wonderful way to end the day is to walk up to the Piazzale Michelangelo to see the panorama of Florence and a lovely sunset.
