Purple Power in February!

Although marsala may be the color of the year, in February, purple reigns! As you may know, Amethyst is the official birthstone--lucky February birthdays! Another rare, semi-precious sometimes purple shaded stone is Flourite. This stone is unique because its purple color changes in the light creating a variety of hues. At Beksan Designs, we create many jewelry designs with amethyst and fluorite. We use these stones primarily in our Antika 24k Gold Vermeil Collection, in earrings, bracelets, necklaces, and rings. For February birthdays we’ve designed a beautiful amethyst gemstone ring. The stone is set in 24karat gold flanked with two small diamonds surrounded by an oxidized silver ring cuff band. All gemstones have special meaning, so we thought we’d share with you the meaning behind amethyst and fluorite: Amethyst: This gemstone is part of the quartz family and the depth of the purple color varies due to traces of iron. It is named from the Greek word “amethustos,” meaning without wine. It is an especially powerful stone which through history has symbolized sincerity, security and peace of mind. The Christian crusaders attached it to their rosaries, and it is said to bring spirituality into one’s life. Wear it in an earring, bracelet, or necklace to benefit from “Purple Power”. Fluorite: This mineral is known for its wide range of colors and sheen. Fluorite is known to be the most powerful healing stone, especially for strengthening bone tissue. It is also known for bringing peace and calm to a troubled mind. Naisha Ahsian, one of the co-authors of "The Book of Stones," says that all fluorite helps with "balancing the brain." Ashian describes purple fluorite as having a particularly powerful ability to enhance mental faculties. http://www.ehow.com/info_8089728_uses-purple-fluorite.html#ixzz2ruUibZHS In addition to the designs on our website, we are using raw amethyst stones to create unique pendants with our silver and 24k gold vermeil necklace chains! These jewelry pieces offer strength to the wearer and beauty to those around them. Please contact us at meyla@beksandesigns.com if you would like to see these new designs.
