Straight from London & Istanbul!

Wow what an amazing trip we had……London was Nevra’s first stop en
route to Istanbul to meet Meyla for Beksan Designs. Currently both of
Nevra’s grown children are in the London area which made this trip all the
more special. It’s hard to believe how many different delicious cuisines
were consumed in 4 days in London while sharing stories with
family….Indian, Japanese, Spanish, French, Thai, and oh yes, British food
too! This dish of smoked salmon on thin zucchini pancakes was exquisite,
can you tell from the photo?!

Nevra managed to squeeze in some fun shopping time on Oxford and
Regent Streets too. Here are current trends observed from her shopping
fun:

• It’s all about the SLEEVE—Bell sleeves, ruffles, long cuffs, anything

goes. The more interesting, the better

• Red is this fall’s predominate color, although there was plenty of

mustard yellow and orange too

• Checkered patterns abound, especially on pants and jackets

• For pants, straight leg continues but a fun alternative is the shorter

wide leg paired with either a longer or shorter top

Next stop Istanbul where we met up at our favorite Niles Hotel, located in
the heart of Beyazit, a stone’s throw from the Grand Bazaar. Their
traditional Turkish roof top breakfasts with a view of the sea began each
working day. Prior to leaving California, we had emailed our artisan
colleagues some creative, new designs and looked forward to seeing the
results!

Our days were spent working alongside Beksan Designs’ artisans and we
rewarded ourselves with delightful dinners. We returned to two of our
favorite rooftop restaurants “Seven Hills Restaurant” and “Olive Anatolian”
both in the old town, with great food and amazing views. And we tried a
new one, Old Ottoman Café and Restaurant, where the waiter broke a clay
pot and an amazing chicken casserole filled with a variety of vegetables
emerged.



Working with our artisan partners in their studios was so rewarding,
especially seeing our designs come to life. Sharing that experience with each other makes these trips all the more special. Now we’re excited to
