Take Care of YOU!!

Do you feel like you are running around from one task to the next? Are you faced with too many deadlines and priorities to juggle? Do you feel robbed of “me” time? We so understand and appreciate our Beksan community so we’re sharing some tips on how to create more time to take care of YOU! Enjoy the read!!   “Take Care of You” Tips:
  • Say no to things that aren’t important to you
Laundry, phone calls, demanding friends –give yourself the permission to focus on what is most important. Prioritize and assess…can you delegate folding laundry or any other activities?? This leads to the next tip!  
  • Ask for help
There’s nothing wrong with asking family and friends for help! You’ll quickly learn that most people around you actually love to be asked! It makes them feel useful and important. What helps the most is getting help for daily tasks like cooking, shopping.  
  • Schedule “time for self” in your planner
To make life less chaotic, it’s a good practice to keep a planner. Make sure you write down every single appointment, to save yourself from missed meetings. Just remember to schedule time for yourself too!  
  • Make a “To Do” List
Instead of juggling all your to-do’s, write them down on a piece of paper. Then make a plan of how you are going to deal with everything before the deadline. Don’t fall for the temptation to start on tomorrow’s tasks today, trust that the plan will take you there, and enjoy some free time on the days when you finish your to do’s early.  
  • Keep a Daily Gratitude list
A daily gratitude list is really helpful to shift your focus and help you appreciate a situation. It doesn’t have to be long, a few sentences will do. If you keep a gratitude journal, you can look back on previous entries whenever you need a little boost in your day.  
  • Adopt “Stay Healthy” Habits
The healthier we feel the more effective we work and the more time we can have for ourselves. This includes getting enough sleep and eating healthy to help you perform at your best and boost your mood! Some ideas include veggies and dip, fruit, and garden or turkey burger on lettuce. Tea is also healthy and comforting!  
  • Take 5 minute breaks to stretch and breathe
Stand up and stretch your body to make you as tall as you can be. Then bend over and touch the ground. Stretch again. Try to just feel your body and pay attention to your breath. Starting the day in a way like this will definitely make you more relaxed!  
  • Take a run or a long walk
Any sort of exercise will release endorphins, your body will thank you and it clears your head so you can focus on the next task at hand!  
  • Create a “Feel Good” environment
This could be having your favorite music in the background, surrounding yourself with inspiring photos, flowers, or plants, and at night lighting candles that have a relaxing effect, like lavender or cedar wood.  
  • Reward Yourself
This is the most important! After a job well done, treat yourself to something special. It could be as simple as going out to dinner, having a latte or glass of wine with friends or going shopping!
