Turkish Scarves, What Makes Them Special
Since childhood, we have loved the feeling of Turkish t-shirts and dresses that our Anneanne (grandma in Turkish) used to get for us. Sis and I were amazed the first time we touched a silk scarf in Turkey....it felt sooo soft and smooth we could not believe it was a scarf! How could something so soft also be so beautiful! We were staying at the Dersaadet Hotel in the old town of Sultan Ahmet. It was recommended that we go to the small bazaar around the corner and we were told about a couple of stores that had beautiful scarves and other Turkish treasures. We strolled along cobble stone streets and loved the feeling of going into these air conditioned small shops in the middle of the hot and humid summer.
The one store that was recommended to us was without exception a true treasure of beautiful scarves. We were amazed at all the types of scarves that were available including cotton, silk, hand woven scarves and something they call "fine silk" which has the most amazing touch I couldn’t believe material could feel soooo good! The other awesome part of this experience was learning about all the different styles and ways to wear scarves. We met Hasan a real expert in the field who was our teacher/guide and new manufacturer! He shared the different fabrics, colors and styles of scarves. We were drawn to the unique look and feel of Turkish textiles, these scarves were unlike anything we had seen in the U.S.
Our feelings about these scarves were confirmed at our first trunk show where everyone went wild over them. We watched customers envelop themselves in the velvety softness of these scarves and heard one exclaim, "Wow, I've never felt anything so scrumptious before." We also enjoyed showing everyone all the different ways to wear a scarf! We are so excited to have come upon these treasures and truly enjoy being able to offer them to our customers! We hope you'll take as much pleasure in them as we do.
